Heathkit SB-220 Amplifier

I bought this amplifier with intentions of converting it to 6m only. Upon closer inspection I think it would be a shame to do that to this peice of equipment because it is in such perfect condition ... near mint. I am no collector, but I don't see how anyone could be disappointed with condition of this amplifier. $1000. I might consider selling without tubes for less. Maldol 40/20 Meter Handheld

Actually a product of the "Daiwa" Co. these antennas do perform. The bands have been pretty poor lately so I have only been using it on 20M with my new FT817. The reports back are extremely good for something thats 3' tall and sticks out of the top of the rig. It will work with or without a counterpoise. Better with naturally. With an external power supply I was pleasantly surprised to find that the power cord supplied with the FT817 makes a perfect counterpoise for the antenna. Ameritron AL84 amp. This is a very nice amp. It’s small, lightweight and runs off of 120Vac, yet it gives you 400 watts out. That’s 6dB increase over your standard 100 watt transmitter. A whole S unit at this part of the solar cycle can make or break a QSO. According to my meter this amp puts out a full 400 watts on 40/80/160. It puts out a tad less on 20/15.
