National RAO-7 receiver

Checked out only to verify it ain't dead, which it's not--i.e., it makes noise. Great shape for 65YO military rx. Chassis extremely clean, no dents/gouges/etc. Front panel good. (Pix at http://www.antiqueradios.com/gallery/v/national/National_RAO_receiver_006.jpg.html). Case included, decent shape. Think this was the first RAO with slide-out chassis. Manual included (original, not copy). Worth easy $25 or more by itself, if you can find one. Quirks: ID plates removed from front panel. Toggle switch added at top left--seems involved with dial lamp wiring and/or putting lamp voltage on six-contact CJ connector added at top right. Missing proper antenna connector. Crystal filter phasing control seems loose, coupler to variable cap may just need tightening but don't feel like disassembling to find out. Think that's it quirkwise. Will NOT ship. Pick up in Potomac, MD 20854, couple of miles outside I-495 near Rockville. 301-983-2407. Blurb on rx from Jim Garland W8ZR: RAO-7: Manufactured by National, identified as both CNA-46187D (see RAO-6) and as type CNA-46233. No S-meter. 115 volts. Not identified as the NC-120. This is the first RAO in which the chassis can be pulled out the front for servicing. No "back porch". V-101, the added preselector 6K7, and its variable cap section are housed in a larger module on the main chassis. Module is not painted, has a top lid held in place with 8 screws. Small rack mount pull-handles and capture screws on front panel. Does not have a top-access lid. Has a twist-lock AC power connector. Has SO-239 Panadaptor output. Manual for RAO-7 says "The RAO-7 is the Navy model of the NC-101XA receiver. The main difference being the addition of a second rf stage for reduced radiation from the local oscillator and the omission of the S-meter. The RAO is a general coverage receiver with no electrical bandspread and covers from 540 kcs to 30 mc with an IF of 455 kc." Known contract date: 31MAY1945 (for 1073 receivers and 1073 spare parts sets). Same tubes as RAO-2 and 6. $125 OBO.

KENWOOD TS 440 SAT XCVR

Fellow that had said he was going to purchase a week ago had some medical problems so its up for sale again. KENWOOD TS 440SAT with power cord, hand mike and factory manual. Double boxed and ready for shipment. I have been using it daily on 75 SSB and 20 CW on my B & W BWD 90 antenna. The cosmetic appearance is a 7 or so due to wear of the paint. Came form the station of my Elmer. I don't know what Clyde did but he wore the paint off the edges of the case and put some scratches on the top and side.
