With this radio I have yet to set up the APRS. Now that I am ready to do this, I cannot find a cable for either of my GPS units. I have both the Garmin Nuvi 660 and the Rino 530. Both take a mini usb cable.
Has anyone else tried this and what did you do?
Thanks,
Bob

Do either output NMEA strings via standard RS-232 protocol or are they strictly a USB connectivity port? The TH-D7A and (G) models require serial not USB. Using a mini USB port leads me to think they may not output serial?

Yeah, our club did comm work for a bike race recently and I was able to hook up with a couple of folks that were big on Garmin. They told me the same thing, not compatible. It was worth a shot since I have 2 of them. And yes, the are both USB connections. Looks like I will have to buy a third one.

I was able to connect a Garmin Oregon with my D7A. I used a cable from Garmin, this is listed as a RS-232, data cable (010-10572-00) for the Rino. It connects to a miniUSB and a serial DB9 on the other end. I connected this with a null modem to the D7A with the serial (DB9) cable that came with the Kenwood. As I understand it this should work with the Colorado as well and possibly the Rino. These GPSs can output a 4800 NEMA compliant signal that the D7A can work with.
Note, only the Oregon 300 and 400 have this capability, not the 200.

I have the ARGENT translator cable for my Nuvi-350 and TH-D7, but Argent warnes that it may not display stations on other than the Nuvi-300 series. Might be worth looking at.

OK,this is great perspective news. What specific cable did you use to get an RS232 signal? I checked the site you posted as link and there were lots of choices but nothing specific. What I'm really trying to do is use a Nuvi-350 to drive our Uniden 996T's.
Thanks for any info and believe me I really need this info.
