Kenwood 710 and GPS's Reply

Prob a ton of post on this subject, but like to get a response on this? Has anyone come up with a USB adapter for the Kenwood 710 so that any NMEA gps will work with the radio? I know there is alot of diffent issues with NMEA and Icons and stuff, but $600 for a avmap gps , and you can go get any other gps with more features than the Avmap, for less than $100 dollars. I use a old GPS III and it will put the Waypoints on the screen of it. Happy with just a waypoint indicator, all you need is a data in and out, dosent most the usb cables for these cheaper GPS's have data in and out? Not a expert on this subject but willing to learn. Any comments will be helpful...

I'm running a kenwood d710A with a Garmin GPS map 60. I had the serial pc interface cable and simply cut the end off of it and soldered it to the cable that came with my 710 for plugging into the GPS port. USB wont work. Garmin does not transmit NMEA on anything but the Serial port.

Garmin ------ Kenwood
White -------White
Yellow-------Brown?
Black ------Shield

I'm a noob so if anyone knows better feel free to correct me

argent data has a $48 adapter here: https://www.argentdata.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=113
The garmin nuvi 350 works best but other garmin models are supported.

Thank you, this is exactly what I been looking for, but I do see that AV Map is dropping in price, but its going to have to drop a long way to match this. Thanks again!
