Hey,

I am new to HF and hope to be active with in in about a months time, I have limited space at the moment for a huge antenna, could someone tell me what an Omni loop is? and how affective they are

I am looking at the 10-80M Omni by antennas and more, they say how the antenna could be place anywear but at the same time they are talking about a massive amount of leanth, I think 290 feet for the 10-80 and 560 for 10-160

So could someone clearify for me with those massive demensions how is an Omnilop a retricted space antenna?

I don't know that particular product but sounds like a regular horizontal wire loop, in which case the dimension is the "perimeter," and a 290' loop is only about 72 feet on a side so fits fine on about a 1/6th acre lot. That's pretty small...

I agree with WB2WIK. I'm not familiar with that particular antenna but I have a horizontal loop under the eaves of my house and it doesn't take up any space - it's a full wave 40m loop. My setup is less than ideal because I have a stucco house which interracts with the antenna I'm sure, but it does pretty good on the band it was cut for (40m). Just my two cents - you can run a wire around your space, under the eaves or prefferably in the clear, and use either a 1/4 wave transformer or tuner to feed the antenna for only the cost of the wire and coax or ladder line. It's significantly cheaper to make your own and works as good if not better than store-bought.

Hey thanks,

if I may ask since you run your antenna under the eves of your house, Do you run the wire in such a way wear it does not come in contact with any part of the house? or does it really not matter if the wire touches anything so long its not an aluminum guiter
