One alternative - for those who are restricted and can't use or don't have a backyard - but do have a driveway or carport - is the following ( for a small car ) - This is a Stationary - NOT a Mobile installation:
Install a screwdriver antenna mounted to a T receiver hitch adapter into a receiver hitch. Elevate the mounting bracket using an aluminum tube, so antenna is away from body of vehicle and higher up - install 8-10 10 ft radials and let them hang to the ground. Run coax from antenna in thru the front window to the rig or tuner.
When finished operating - simply remove the T hitch adapter - from the receiver hitch - and everything ( antenna & bracket & radials ) comes off - and you are just left with the receiver hitch on the vehicle. Then Drive away !
I use the High Sierra HS-1800 set up.
Have Fun!
