Hello.
I purchased (for $150.00) a VERY clean, well maintained FT 101EE at the Fort Wayne hamfest Sunday. It works just as good as it looks with full otput on all bands and a sharp as a tack receiver. I have been trying to figure when it was made. The rig i believe, might be a later model as it does not have the 11 meter position, but simply has 80, 40, 20, 15, 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, AUX, JJY WWV and 160. All of the other 101EE's i've looked at all had the 11 meter position. The serial number is pretty high at, 25,296.1. Can anyone help me out?

There is a wealth of Yaesu info on the Fox Tango site. To answer your question, based on the S/N you posted, your FT-101EE is one of the later versions.

The SSN will tell you a lot.

SSN less than 15,000 is an early model. This version is not easily upgraded to the later versions, if at all.

SSN 15,001 to 20,500 is a mid model. I have this one. I like it a lot.

SSN greater than 20,500 is the last version of the FT101x.

All three of these are like different models with the last being the most improved design over time but are all called FT-101(E/EE/EX).

I second, go to Fox Tango. Check them out on Yahoo groups too. The 'Candy Store' is closed, but be sure to stop by when it opens. This old radio has great support.

I had a 101 e and an ex and ee. This EE has all the latest updates Yaesu did when they were making the last of the 101s in about 1979/80 or so. I downloaded and now have a copy of the 101 series service manual and from what i see all the boards are the last of the boards they produced. Overall, im very happy with this 101EE. The receiver on this rig is much sharper and richer sounding than the receive on the other older 101's i had IMHO.
