Rig to USB...any competitors to RigExpert?

In running PSK on my Yaesu FT-897, I have used both a Buxcomm RASCAL and an MFJ Sound Card Interface with my PC. I've run them both at various times directly to the 1 DB9 serial port on my PC and also to a USB port using a Serial-USB adapter. It seems to be a shame to waste the CAT & Data ports on the radio. Moreover, there's an awful lot of wires hanging around.
I see now that the RigExpert product is available and it eliminates the soundcard requirement and can interface directly to a rig using the Data/CAT ports and USB port on the PC.
Question:
Are there any competitors to the RigExpert product? I know some of the sound card interfaces are bundling Serial-USB adapters, but they're still sound card interfaces.

Yes, there's the MicroHam unit.

Excellent products and very fast shipping and delivery from Europe.

I believe the MicroHam unit still uses the sound card in the computer. I haven't seen a direct replacement for the RigExpert. There are some rather inexpensive external USB sound cards available but you would still need to provide an interface between it and the radio.

Hi Joe,
Have you looked at the Signalink ?
http://www.tigertronics.com/
No usb or serial ports needed,
however, soundcard is required.

Bob:
You are correct. I misread the data on the MicroKeyer and the new USB II interfaces. They do not include a soundcard.
Sorry for the misinformation.

The only other one I am aware of that seems to have more features...or will have...is by Timewave called the HamHub. I believe that has an onboard soundcard chip as well. But don't know if they released it yet.
Seems timewave got busy with some $$ gov't contracts and obviously put the ham stuff on the back burner.
They do have a pdf file for the ham hub on their website though.

Sorry, that one is still just an isolated interface to a soundcard with the addition of two serial ports driven by a USB prot.

Hello, I'm fairly new to the Digital Modes.
Looking at the newest Microham Interface III
It says it has a soundcard built in.
This is acording to the web site.
I am still up in the air on which unit to purchase
Microham or RigExpert standard.
Good Luck,
Tom - WA2PNI

These posts are 2 years old. Things have changed in that time and much of what was said is now incorrect.
Take a look at the new Signalink-USB for one.
