I purchase a Donner interface about 1 year ago after getting my general ticket. I wanted to give PSK31 a try and it seemed like a good price.
My problem at first was the interface would lock into tx once I tried to use it and id have to disconnect to unlock. Now all it does is lock in tx when connectted to the radio no matter what.
My radio is a ic-740 and my computer is a Gateway with vista and I have both Digipan and HRD.
Id really like to give psk a try again but have no idea what to do on the interface . Im also not good with computers.

I'm not sure where it's at in HRD, but in DigiPan click on Configure and then click on Serial Port. A window will come up with a drop down box for what port you want to use to key the transmitter (PTT). Select the com port that your interface is on and then uncheck one of the boxes (RTS as PTT and DTR as PTT). I believe you want to uncheck RTS, but I'm not sure so if it continues to happen switch it to the other one being the only one checked.
I hope this helps you out.

Another way to skin the cat:
The IC-740 has VOX. And I think that its microphone has a built-in amplifier, and puts out a powerful signal (for a mic).
If you feed the Donner's AF output into the IC-740 microphone input (you might need a DC blocking capacitor), you can use the C-740 VOX to control TX/RX switching.
That will free-up a serial port on the computer, and give you one less interfacing problem.

I recieved the interface back the other day and Donner wrote the reed relay was bad. Like when I first got it it would tx but then lock there until I unhooked it from the radio. I emailed Donner for advice tried changing com ports , etc and once again its permantly locked in tx and has that not so nice smell of fried electronics .
Ill assume its toast and that the person who wrote the eham review about it not working with icom radios may be correct . Perhaps the relays are not strong enough.
