Digital field day Reply
by KB1NRB on June 18, 2009 Mail this to a friend!
Our club is going to run a digital station for field day this year. I have been tasked with the set up and operation of this station. I am hoping to have plenty of activity to keep me busy for most of the "contest". I am leaning towards psk31 as my main mode as it is reletivly conservitive as far as power requirments, but i will have other modes avalible for demonstration. I would like to get a feel for who else will be playing in the digital modes for field day.. Are you or your club setting up for some psk31 or other form of HF digital communication for field day?? I have noticed that there is the Ukrainian Dx Digital contest that will be running during the field day period, so if nothing else I will work plenty of Ukrainian stations... Please chime in here if you will be operating digital for field day. Hope to get you in the log at KZ1M for our first ever field day digital station. 73's de KB1NRB

I plan on running my IC-7000 for digital and PSK will probably be the mode of choice. I'd planned on it last year but had problems with my 718. We'll be K4D.

I am going to try to run QRP with my FT 817ND on Saturday afternoon for a few hours, and will most likely use PSK31. I will be looking for more than just "Hi, 599, bye" reports as Field Day setups could be good fodder for conversation. Good Luck. Dale.

I have a question relating back to the previous post. If field day does not start until saturday, why do they have the times for friday's transmittion of the bullitan?

We are also planning on having a digi station for those that are wanting to try digital at field day (mostly psk31).

I will probably be on PSK31 to some extent, maybe on 15 meters.
